Starting September 17, 2026, absentee ballot materials for the mayoral election on October 11, 2026, will be mailed out. They will be mailed in the order in which applications are received; applications with a mailing address outside Germany will be processed first.

To ensure the validity of your application for an absentee ballot—especially when filling out the back of the election notice—please make sure that all required fields (date, signature of the voter or authorized representative, and date of birth) are filled in and that the application specifies whether it applies only to the election on October 11 or also to a possible runoff election on October 25.
