The election notifications for the early Bundestag election on Sunday, February 23, will be sent out by Deutsche Post to all Offenburg residents entitled to vote in the next few days. The election notifications must be delivered by February 2. Eligible voters who have not received a voter’s notification by this date but assume that they are on the electoral roll should contact the electoral office.
Voters receive important information about participating in the election, in particular about the polling stations, with their polling card. Among other things, this makes it possible to vote at the polling station listed on election day: “It is therefore important to keep the polling card carefully and bring it with you to the polling station,” emphasizes Lauréanne Hoeltzel-Waldmann, head of the city’s Central Services and Elections department.
The election notification can also be used to apply for postal voting documents. Even if the application for postal voting can be made now, a little patience is required until the postal voting documents are actually available. Hoeltzel-Waldmann points out that they cannot yet be sent out. This is due to legal requirements, meaning that the ballot papers for the Bundestag elections on February 23rd can only be printed after approval by the electoral committees and the deadline for complaints at the end of January. Due to these time constraints, the postal voting service and the postal voting counter in the citizens’ office cannot be offered before February 10.
42 Polling districts
The city administration of Offenburg asks for the voters’ understanding for this time schedule and recommends that those who do not have to vote by post should go to the polling station. The city of Offenburg has set up 42 polling districts so that a smooth process can be guaranteed. People who decide to vote by post are asked to submit their application in good time and to choose the quick and easy option of scanning the QR code on the election notification or applying online.
In this way, delays in delivery can be avoided. These application variants also offer the advantage that the comparison with the data of the eligible voters can already be carried out by the system and therefore faster application processing by the electoral office is possible.
